How to receive the welcome bonus

For each half of the bonus, make at least one purchase of €1 or more every month during its six-month period (months 1–6 or 7–12), plus a purchase in the payout month (7 or 13). Missing a month means losing that half. The card must be approved and remain active when the bonus is paid.

The welcome bonus is for new cardholders who have not held an AMEX card, including an additional card, in the past 12 months. Referral bonuses require applying through the referral link. Always read that offer’s full terms. Regular annual XP is separate from any extra campaign XP.

Main benefits

  • Flying Blue Miles instead of Membership Rewards
  • 15 Flying Blue XP per year
  • Purchase protection; supplementary travel accident and inconvenience insurance when paid with the card
  • Two supplementary Silver Cards at no extra cost

Things to consider

  • No lounge programme is included with this card.

Annual card XP helps you work towards Flying Blue Gold status. Gold status and above gives access to participating SkyTeam lounges worldwide on eligible flights, subject to conditions.

The card does not automatically grant Flying Blue status.

    Flying Blue status benefits ↗
  • Annual XP helps towards status; the card does not automatically grant Flying Blue Platinum status.
  • Insurance cover, exclusions and payment requirements depend on the policy. Check the official terms for your trip.

Who could this suit?

Occasional KLM/Air France travellers who want a low-cost way to collect Flying Blue Miles and an initial annual XP boost.

Judge the recurring contribution against benefits you will actually use. A welcome bonus is temporary and does not change the match score.
