What should you do?

Already using the service? Keep paying the remaining instalments as agreed. Planning to start a new arrangement? Check eligibility and activation timing with AMEX. Not using the service? The announcement does not change your card’s usual monthly payment schedule.

What is changing?

American Express is discontinuing Fly Now Pay Later for KLM, Air France and Transavia flight tickets on 20 November 2026. The feature allows eligible tickets to be paid in three consecutive monthly instalments.

In its message to Flying Blue American Express cardholders, AMEX says the decision anticipates new legislation and regulations.

Existing arrangements continue

Already using Fly Now Pay Later for a flight ticket? According to the AMEX customer message, your remaining instalments will be collected as agreed. The announcement does not require an existing arrangement to be settled immediately.

New arrangements: a deadline to keep in mind

AMEX says Fly Now Pay Later can still be used for purchased tickets until 20 November 2026. The service is being discontinued on that date, so do not assume a later ticket purchase can be converted to instalments.

The official benefit pages warn that a transaction can take several days to appear in your account. Buying a ticket just before the deadline does not guarantee you can activate an arrangement in time. Check eligibility and timing with AMEX if you intend to use it.

Silver, Gold and Platinum

The end date appears on the Dutch benefit pages for Flying Blue Silver, Gold and Platinum. When comparing these cards, do not count Fly Now Pay Later as an ongoing benefit. Consider the fee, Miles earning, annual XP and other benefits you expect to use.
